About Us

Jake Heffernan is a criminal defense attorney with more than a decade of experience in the criminal justice system. After graduating from law school, he went on to work as prosecutor in the Ellis County and District Attorney’s Office.  Having handled thousands of cases as a prosecutor, Jake has a comprehensive understanding of both sides of the criminal justice system.

This vast experience as a former prosecutor has given Jake a unique perspective of the criminal justice system and a familiarity with the tactics employed by law enforcement.  With this knowledge, he can anticipate their strategies and proactively build a robust defense for his clients. Jake’s experience on both sides of the criminal justice system also allows him to provide accurate, reliable advice for his clients. 

Jake understands that being accused of a crime can be an incredibly stressful time for his clients, and he strives to provide them with the compassion, care, and advocacy they deserve to help them navigate the legal system.  He also understands that every case is unique, which is why he takes the time to thoroughly investigate every fact and circumstance related to the charges.  

Throughout his career as a criminal defense attorney, he has successfully defended clients accused of a wide range of criminal offenses, from minor infractions to serious felonies.  Jake believes that everyone deserves a zealous and effective defense, regardless of the charges against them. His goal is to help his clients navigate the legal system with confidence and ensure that their rights and freedoms are protected.
